You cannot help but smile back when BECKY McCATHIE walks into a room exuding confidence, exuberance and dedication to a common good.  As the “Running for Victory 5K Run/Walk” Race Director, Becky is excited to share news about the race to be held at beautiful Staring Lake in Eden Prairie on AUGUST 9th.  All proceeds will be donated to Educate Tanzania.

Running for Victory 5K Run/Walk

August 9th 8:30am

Staring Lake, Eden Prairie, MN

Race Fee:  $25   (ALL fees donated to ETI)

Outdoor Christian Worship and Lunch to follow.

Runners and walkers of all abilities are invited to join the event.  You don’t have to have a fancy running outfit or even run!  If you cannot make it on August 9th, please register and join us in spirit!  100% of your race fee ($25.) will be donated to ETI.

Here’s what Becky has to say:

“Our goal is to raise $2000 for ETI to help with the costs of bringing water to the students of KARUCO! “Running for Victory” is a means to raise money for charities that our congregation, Victory Lutheran Church, wants to support. We donate 100% of our race fees.”

“ETI is what happens when philanthropic, genuine, innovative people come together! ETI is intentional of not only the process of opening a university, but in the relationships in Tanzania and here in the Twin Cities as well. I know the dollars we are raising are being used in the most effective way.”

“I am a lifetime Lutheran, and relatively new runner. The Running for Victory 5k is in its third year, and is one of the major events our church hosts. My husband, Travis, and I are involved in the local running scene, and are lucky to call many fellow runners our friends. Both of us have backgrounds in sports medicine, and leadership education.”

Runners, Runners Everywhere!

“As the race director for the ‘Running for Victory 5k’, I am lucky to be able to connect with people through the universal language of running and physical activity/health. I hope the people of Tanzania are inspired and encouraged by our participation in their journey as much as we are for their drive to educate, improve civil rights and grow their agribusiness.”

Join us Sunday Aug 9th.  The 5k will start at 8:30am around beautiful Staring Lake Park in Eden Prairie. Visit http://victorylcms.org/victory5k/ for more info about how to register for the 5k!  Runners and walkers of all abilities are invited to join the event, which also includes a Christian worship service and a fellowship lunch for those interested. You don’t have to have a fancy running outfit or be a professional to be a part.  In fact you don’t even have to be present: You can sign up as a virtual runner (we call them gazelles)!  C’mon!  Be part of the story!!
